Wiki 28 weeks later1/31/2024 The panicked residents, along with the infected, are allowed onto the streets of the Green Zone. However, Don has been hiding in this room and attacks the crowd, spreading the virus. Andy is separated from Tammy and Scarlet and placed in a different room with other residents. The Army has moved quickly to contain the infection, herding the residents of the Green Zone into safe rooms. Realizing that Andy and Alice shared a genetic quirk that might make him immune to the virus's effects, Scarlet rescues Tammy and Andy. Becoming an enraged madman, he crushes Alice's skull and escapes into the Green Zone, killing several soldiers and infecting others. They kiss tenderly and Don is infected with the virus. Tammy and Andy had bitterly accused him of abandoning her and he wants to explain himself. Meanwhile, Don sneaks into where Alice is being kept. The commanding officer, Stone ( Idris Elba), orders Alice executed even though she could hold the secret to curing the virus. However she is a carrier who could infect others with her saliva or blood. Alice has the rage virus teeming in her blood but is immune to its effects. An Army medical officer, Scarlet ( Rose Byrne), discovers an old bite wound on her and does a blood test. The NATO soldiers take Alice back to the Green Zone. There, Andy discovers Alice in the attic, delirious but alive. Tammy and Andy decide to sneak out into London and visit their old home to retrieve personal items. He tells Tammy and Andy that he tried to save their mother but there was no hope. Don manages one of the apartment buildings in the zone. Leaving the Green Zone is forbidden because troops are still cleaning up the corpses that have been rotting for six months. Snipers patrol the rooftops in case of another outbreak. Everyone lives in the Green Zone, a secured area on the Isle of Dogs, a peninsula on the East End of London. Among them are Don and Alice's children, Tammy and Andy ( Imogen Poots and Mackintosh Muggleton). An American-led NATO force has secured parts of London and is now allowing the return of English citizens who had been abroad during the outbreak. Twenty eight weeks later, the infected have all starved to death. They allow a young boy to enter the house but the infected have followed him and break in. Don and Alice are happy that their two children are on a school trip to Spain and thus away from the disaster. Too bad.During the outbreak of the rage virus in England, Don ( Robert Carlyle) and his wife, Alice ( Catherine McCormack) hide in a country house with four other people. But a 2002 zombie movie looks like a messy blur on it. I watched old movies on my OLED TV that looked great, even black and white movies from 70+ years ago like Seven Samurai or Citizen Kane looked great enough that I never thought about the video quality while watching them. It could be a budget constraint, but I can't see why the director of Trainspotting couldn't get himself a fine film camera. ![]() A very poor decision, that makes the movie unwatchable on a modern 4K TV. Worst thing is, the end scene is actually shot on film and looks great, so Danny Boyle had access to correct cameras and chose to shot 99% of the movie with a 480p camera for what seems like an artistic decision. ![]() No amount of software upscaling can fix this difference and I had to watch it on my laptop to stop being bothered by the poor video quality. Which, well, is only 4% of the pixel density of a 4K TV. I even tried to get the movie from less legal ways, just to see, but same result.Īfter looking for this online, the fact is, whatever source I use, 28 Days Later was actually filmed with a digital miniDV camera, only capable of a 480p definition. The movie was as blurry and unwatchable, and my friend hadn't watch it before so couldn't confirm is that was right. Upon watching it, I thought there was something wrong with the Blu-ray too. I rented it last week on AppleTV+ to watch on my LG OLED but it looked blurry as hell, and I stopped watching, thinking there was something wrong with my Internet connection or the stream.Ī few days later (not 28, like 5.) a friend told me they had the Blu-ray at home so I borrowed it. My 2021 discovery watchlist included 28 Days Later, the well known zombie movie from Danny Boyle, a director I'm usually really fond of (Sunshine is one of my favorite space movies).
